Department of Defense:
Responsible for controlling the military. Each branch has their own special forces.
Army:
The main military ground force. The main elite divisions are the Marine Corps (which is also a security force for the Navy), Airborne Corps, Mountain troops, and Rangers (light infantry that are not special forces).
Navy:
Responsible for protecting maritime assets and projecting power from the sea. Operates all of the armed force's maritime assets.
Air Force:
The main military aviation wing. Also has some responsibility for projecting air power.
State Gendarmerie:
Reserve component to the military that are normally under control of states. Equivalent to U.S. national guard and Soviet/former Soviet internal troops.
Department of Public Safety:

The Joint Immigration Task Force specializes in arresting and deporting illegal immigrants, along with running immigrant detention camps, with Federal Police and the Federal Coast Guard doing the former on land and on the water respectively and Federal Corrections doing the latter.
Federal Police:
Responsible for federal-level law enforcement on land, especially at border checkpoints and airports, and also works with the Federal Coast Guard at seaports. Also responsible for enforcing immigration regulations and providing extra law enforcement services to country's sparsely populated Northern Territories (such as Alaska, Yukon, and Northeast territory) and Immigration Zone (islands).
Some Federal government office buildings contract private security.
Federal Corrections:
Responsible for running the federal correctional system, including transporting prisoners.
Federal Coast Guard:
Responsible for maritime and coastal law enforcement and port security. Also works with the Federal Police at seaports. Also responsible for conducting federal inland marine law enforcement.
